It seems libgphoto2 does not currently support the AW100 as a USB PTP 
device. Short of a cardreader, you may mount it as an MTP device:

1. Make sure you have libmtp installed (http://libmtp.sourceforge.net).

2. To mount the AW100, use mtpfs (http://www.adebenham.com/mtpfs).

* Slackware specific notes:
* libmtp is part of a stock Slackware 13.37 install.
* A mtpfs SlackBuild script is found at slackbuilds.org.
